St. Charles Uses Cameras to Battle Crime

According to St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a district in the St. Charles area installed additional security cameras in effort to decrease some crime problems ranging from rowdiness to car theft. Business owners have pushed for more surveillance cameras because they serve as deterrents for crimes and a city manager says the evidence provided on the video cameras assist in making arrests.

Quality Video Surveillance

Install video cameras and send the message to troublemakers that they should go elsewhere.

We’ve all seen news stories that show grainy images of suspects from poor angles and wonder why the business even installed camera. Compare these to the images from high definition video security that show clear pictures with details that are useful in identifying the person(s) recorded. High definition video security cameras installed by professionals like Butler Durrell Security are more useful because we account for lighting and angles, and because the quality of the image is much clearer than older technology.

While not all business owners and residents love having cameras, most quoted in the article concede that video cameras are necessary, but wish the situation in the area weren’t allowed to get out of hand prior to cameras being installed.

In Columbia, MO, surveillance cameras have been installed in the public parks. Police Chief Joseph Edwards says vandalism in the parks has declined to “almost none” and in one park cameras assisted in the successful prosecution of a sex offender who was loitering in the park before school.
